London Majors 2026 season comes to an end in Game 6 of CBL semis
You know the old saying, “When the Jackfish get rolling…”
Maybe it isn’t as popular as some of the age-old adages but with the way the Welland Jackfish finished up their semi-final series against the London Majors, it could catch on.
After London jumped out to a 2-0 series lead in the best-of-7 the Jackfish reeled off four straight victories and are now headed to the first-ever Canadian Baseball League final where they will meet the hottest team in the second half of the CBL’s inaugural season, the Hamilton Thunderbirds.
Hamilton eliminated the Barrie Baycats in six games in an 11-inning thriller on Sept 12.
For the Majors this will be a season remembered for newfound stars.
London led the CBL in homeruns with 73 spurred on by stud short stop Maikol Escotto who had 16.
Only former Major Leaguer Yasiel Puig had more home runs on the season.
Second baseman Christian Inoa was also a major threat at the plate with 15 homers.
First baseman Trent Lenihan was second to Escotto in overall hits.
Pitchers Travis Keys and Victor Payano tied for first in league wins and Payano was regarded as a guy you didn’t want to see on the mound in a big game.
Skyler Janisse had a dynamite year out of the bullpen tying for first place in the CBL in saves.
The best-of-7 championship series between Welland and Hamilton will open in Hamilton on Friday, Sept. 18 at 7:35 p.m.
