Four London High School football teams in this week's Top-25
The Ontario High School Football Top 25 Coaches Poll is out for the first full week of October and four London schools are featured.
The (3-0) Catholic Central continues to hold down the top spot in Week Four ahead of the (6-1) Huron Heights Warriors from Newmarket, Ont., and ahead of (4-0) Korah Collegiate of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., but they have company with London South (#8), the SAB Bulldogs (#24) and Mother Teresa (#25).
#1 CCH Crusaders
The Crusaders outscored their first two opponents 80-10 after a 35-0 season opening win over the St. Joseph's Rams and a 45-10 victory against the Medway Cowboys.
CCH is looking to win their third consecutive OFSAA Western Bowl title. After winning the city title last year the Crusaders took down Bishop Ryan out of Hamilton, Ont., in a decisive 25-0 win at the University of Guelph and were declared co-National championship with Huron Heights by canadafootballchat.com
The Crusaders will host Mother Teresa on Friday, Oct. 9 at 11 a.m.
#8 South Lions
South began the year by taking down the also-ranked SAB Bulldogs on their home field 43-24 thank to huge days from running back Izaiah Moxley and from quarterback Leon Doucette who missed nearly all of last year due to injury.
The Lions followed that game with a 34-7 road win over the Parkside Stampeders.
South will host (0-2) Laurier on Friday, Oct. 9 at 2:15 p.m.
#24 Saint Andre Bessette Bulldogs
After a difficult opening week loss to SOuth that saw the Bulldogs turn the ball over twice inside their own five-yard line they rebounded nicely with a 28-22 home win over the Laurier Rams.
Quarterback Liam Sweeney has been solid and Michael Fadiya is a threat to make a playin the play on offence or defence at any moment.
The Bulldogs will put their (1-1) record on the line at (1-1) Oakridge on Thursday, Oc. 8 at 11 a.m.
#25 Mother Teresa Spartans
The Spartans have been lurking just outside a few conversations this season about some of the best high school teams in TVRA.
Their 20-16 win over the Banting Broncos turned some heads in their opening game and then the Spartans followed that up with a dominant 35-7 victory over Saunders in Week 2.
This week is the big one. Head to head, on the road against CCH on Oct. 9 at 11 a.m.
